Self-studying Psych; Best time?

I'm planning on self-studying AP Psychology because I'm actually interested in it but my school doesn't offer the class.

When do you think would be best for me to do this? I'll be going into 10th grade this fall.

Did you take a general intro to psych course?

What courses are you taking this year? Sophmore year at my school is the year to slack off but I don't know at your school. I suggest try doing it this year before the horrible junior year.I would suggest getting a psychology textbook and the Barrons prep book with cd to help you.

A few weeks before the AP exam would be sufficient. I independent studied AP Psychology, didn't spend much time on it, and made a 4 (primarily due to my bad writing).

I know freshmen who have gotten 5s on the exam with minimal studying. By Barron's, and a textbook if you need it, and you've got yourself a 5.

just buy barrons and read it a week or two before the exam and you should be set.

That's actually true. There's nothing more to it.

No, I've never taken a psych course.. ever.

I think I will do it sophmore year because I only have one AP and my other classes won't be too hard but my junior and senior years are pretty full.

Thanks for all the replies.

Just wanted to bring this up. Would it be possible to self-study psych in 1-2 months?

After reading all the stories in CC, I think that is possible. From what I gather, you can literally read Barron's a week before and get a 5.

it is 100 percent possible to self-study psych in 1-2 months

I read Barron's over the course of two weeks, and was able to earn a 5 with ease. (Even though I had the class four months earlier, I remembered little of what I learned before I picked up the review book.)
