self studying regular, not AP, chem

Is it a bad idea to self-study chemistry over the summer? I'll also be taking Algebra II classes for credit. I didn't take Honors math/science my freshman year and I want to catch up so I can take AP math/science next year (junior year).

Any suggestions on how I'd go about studying chem? I'll have to take the statewide chemistry final in September, when I go back to school.

go over the essentials. Look at the CT chemistry curriculum.

Essentials of chemistry

Types of reactions and classifying them
Stoichiometry
Understanding scientific investigation
Molar relationships
Periodicity and Electrons and the periodic table.

Okay, thanks. Do you think that I should just get the textbook that my school uses, and study that way?

^Not necessarily. Get the one that you feel most comfortable with.

khanacademy.org

much better than any textbook I have ever had.

Awesome, thanks! I’ll check that out.
