Self studying US GOV. and Macro

So I’m taking regular US Gov. 1st semester because I wasn’t able to get into an AP class, so would it be necessary to get a prep book? And which one do you recommend? Princeton review or 5 steps to a 5?</p>

But with Macro I’m actually taking AP Micro so would it be hard differentiate between the two if I self study Macro? And which prep books are good for macro and micro?</p>
