I'm visiting New York City on spring break to visit some colleges, but NYU reservations are all full when I'm planning to go.

Is there a recommended way to self tour it? Or is it not worth it? I'm sort of out of options..

You can walk around Washington square park and see the nyu buildings yourself. It’s not that hard. Just find a map with the buildings labeled and you can easily find your way around.

You’ll be able to see outsides of buildings, but won’t be able to get into most of them (yes to bookstore, computer store, visitor center, art galleries). If you’re going to be in NY anyway and NYU is high on your list, you should at least take a look. Print a campus map, get a feel for the neighborhood and where things are.

The one positive: NYU will be in session so you’ll at least get a sense of the students. It beats visiting in the summer.

I would keep checking the website as people do cancel out and also check in at the visitor center. You may still get a chance at the info session/tour.

There might also be an opportunity to sit in on a class. I can’t seem to find it on the website, but if you’re interested, call the visitor center and see if that’s a possibility.

Get a map off the NYU website of their buildings which are mostly around Washington Square Park. Go to the visitor center (across from Starbucks) and see if you can get in on a tour. When we went we didn’t have to have a reservation, we just walked in. Make sure you visit Kimmel Center, Bobst library and some of the dorms around Washington Square are Hayden, Weinstein and Goddard(next to Starbucks and across from Tisch. If you are self touring you will not be able to visit a dorm room, but you can get the gist of it. Also, Hayden and Weinstein have dining halls that you may be able to peek in.
