Selfstudy help

I recently decided to self study 1 or 2 of these subjects..

Chemistry

Psychology

English Language

Calculus AB/BC

I'm not taking English this year because of a full course schedule so I'm thinking about taking Eng language. But is it do-able in 3 months? I looked at the collegeboard adobe thing and it mostly looks like SAT critical reading stuff. (is it? if it is, how much more advanced is it than critical reading?).But are the essay parts hard? I'm not exactly a super essay writer..

I've heard that Psychology is quite easy to selfstudy but I was wondering if selfstudiers borrow textbooks from their school to study from? Or do they just soley study from prep books like barrons? Is Barrons enough to cover all of the material?

oh and I take chem at school so it's not much of a problem.
And if I can manage all of CalcAB stuff, should I take Calc BC? Because I heard that BC is not that different from AB..

Thanks. I'd appreciate all kinds of feedback.
(btw I'm determined to work really really hard.)
