Sell Me!

UCI sounds awesome. :) Free concerts!? x)

But I was wondering about the public transportation around Irvine... like is it possible to take a bus to a nearby metropolis? Or must one have a car? :O I heard that Irvine is very suburban...

public transportation= the OCTA!
i'm not much of a bus person but i hear it can take you anywhere..or at least to the beaches and the mall and i think john wayne (airport).

I'm not a UCI student, in fact, I'm not even in college yet! But I've lived in OC my whole life and My two cents about public transportation is that it seems very limited. There are buses that run regularly, and taking the train is always fun (its actually really easy to get to and from L.A. by train, and there is an irvine train station) but as far as just running over to the mall or the beach, I would say a car is much easier and faster than taking the bus.
But if you don't want to bring a car to campus, my guess is that a lot of people on campus will have them, and you will probably be able to hitch rides with friends and whatnot.
Hope that helps... maybe I'll see you at UCI next fall!

I just got back from my Destination UC Irvine thing and I'm sold. :)

Care to elaborate? :-)

I would love to hear what they said at the destination UCI. Irvine is still my second choice, but is looking better every day!

The student panel sold me, mainly. Irvine is extremely supportive of undergraduate research, and the student panel reflected that very much. Since I want to do bio, the bio student panelist who talked about his experiences in doing research sophomore/junior years with a Genius Grant recipient was very persuasive.

Glad to hear you chose us over other schools cbf88. Welcome aboard :].

Thanks :D Can't wait to start.
