Is it true that sometimes Biomedical Engineering and Biological Enginnering are the same thing, and sometimes they are not? This is what we seem to be discovering. If you intend on going on to grad school for BME does it really make a difference what undergrad engineering degree you get? And is ABET accredidation important for BME or not? These are the schools my D is looking at:
UMich
Case Western
URochester
Boston Univ
UPittsburgh
Vandy
SUNY Bing
maybe: UPenn, Columbia, Cornell

Any thoughts about the programs at any of these schools?

I have found the same. For instance the University of Minnesota has both BME and BioE. The University of Illinois has only BioE, however it is more similar to the UofM's BME. I was told that ABET Accredidation is not neccisary for BME because very few BMEs get their PE. The only thing I know of those schools are that Case and BU have good BME programs.
