Semester in Washington?!

Hey all!

I'm currently applying for the Semester in Washing Politics at GWU from a school in NJ, to get some more hands on experience and hopefully an internship in D.C. that will help me towards my political science oriented career. I was just wondering if anyone had any "inside" info about the program.

ex. Is it worth it? Did any of you guys who took a semester there like/not like it?
I was also wondering how difficult/easy it is to get into (ie like GWU admissions? Are there alot of kids who apply? etc...)

Any info is appreciated!

Thanks :)

Georgetown is definitiely the best school in the DC area–I would encourage you to look at Georgetown programs.

I’d skip in. Look for internships yourself, save the money, and spend a summer here.
Really, you’d be just as well off getting a local career-relevant job than photocopying papers all semester in D.C. That’s not to say that “connections” aren’t good, but photocopying (i.e., interning) isn’t really ‘living it up.’ You’d probably have fun in D.C., and enjoy it- it all depends on how much you’re willing to spend.
