Semester Limit?

So as a transfer student, I'm well aware that I only have 4 semesters to graduate. Do the summer sessions count against that 4 semester limit? I want to triple major, and am going to use the summer sessions to complete the upper grad work I'll need for my third major.

Summer semesters don’t count for anything as far as I know, since summer sessions are “open enrollment” to anyone who wants to pay the fees. The reason for the limit is because of the mission to serve Californian students with public education; taking classes during the summer is generally done out-of-pocket.

In other words, I doubt it! But call Admissions if you are concerned.

There is a cap. Double majors are allowed nine semesters OR 136 units, whichever comes last.

Also some departments have class limits for summer. For example, English only allows you to fulfill one pre-req using summer classes.

My advice is to complete ALL of the pre-reqs for the majors before transferring. It will make your life SO much easier.

Oh, right. There’s no semester cap that includes summers a la my previous argument, but there is a “total units earned” cap.

In any case, both can be negotiated if you have a good reason for it.
