Semester Overlap and Financial Aid Question

Hello, I've seen another question similiar to this posted but nobody really answered the question due to the poster's strange circumstances. My situation is a little easier to make sense of.

The grad school I attend did not have courses available that I could have taken this semester that would fit my schedule. I commute quite a distance and it just wasn't feasible. So I'm taking a couple online classes to transfer in after the end of this semester. I will then attend my usual school in the Spring (starting in early January) to finish my M.A. that semester.

Trouble is, the online semester ends January 20th, and the Spring semester begins sometime in the first week of January, I think. So there will be a couple of weeks overlap. I need to continue receiving my financial aid (Direct Loan) money for that semester, and am using aid for this semester as well.

Will that overlap prevent me from getting the loan to my original school while I'm still technically in school at the other?

So you’re attending both schools this semester and will be full-time at the degree-granting school for spring? Which school is awarding your loans this semester? I don’t see a problem, but you’d be better off checking with the FA office of the degree-granting school than getting opinions from an internet forum.

Yes, the loan period overlap CAN affect your ability to borrow for that semester. You need to talk to the financial aid office at your usual school. Make sure you talk to someone who knows about this - tell them you have an overlapping loan period and need to talk to someone who knows the regulations regarding this issue.
