So my Bio Honors teacher said something rather interesting Thursday, the day of my midterm exam. Apparently, only semester grades go on transcripts. I was completely unaware of this, but now I'm wondering a few other things, if indeed what she says is true:

Do only semester grades count in towards GPA?
Does that mean colleges don't see quarterly grades at all?

I ask this because I just got a B+ in Bio for the second quarter, but I have an A- for the semester...

Generally, as far as the high schools I’ve been too, semester (or trimester) is the period of grading. However, colleges do see quarter grades, usually. But it won’t matter, you will be fine.

At my school, only our final grade goes on our transcript so that’s all that colleges see. The final grade is also the only thing that counts toward our GPA. If she said that only semester grades go on transcripts, then that’s all that colleges will see.

Ask your GC for a copy of your transcript. At my school, only final year grades show on the transcript and are counted towards GPA. At a private nearby, semester and final show up on the transcript but only final grades count towards GPA.
