Which do you prefer and why? Which is harder?

I currently go to a CCC on the semester system and omg, the classes drag on and on... and on.. and on...

I'm only familiar with the semester system and I am ready to try out the Quarter system that most of the UCs are on.

Interesting tidbit: Most CSU campuses are on the semester system and most UCs (save for Merced and Cal) are on Quarter.

One reason I wouldn't want to attend Cal is because they're on the semester system.

I only have experience with the quarter system so far, but I can tell you that it is great! Classes go by fast and the material is always still fresh in your brain by the time of midterms and finals.
I’m not too excited about Cal’s semester system, but I know I’ll survive.

I think i will prefer the quarter system once i transfer. As you said, semester goes on forever, though i can see the quarter system being really hard because its so fast.

in a quarter system, is there less research papers since the time is significantly shorter??? I love the semester system in cc but ucla is gonna test me in the quarter

Quarters move faster, but you take fewer classes. You can concentrate on three to four classes, instead of having to take five.

you get an actual spring break in a quarter system because it happens between the end of winter quarter and the start of spring quarter.

i am probably going to fall in love with the quarter system. this semester stuff we got on right now… holy smacks dude. i’m so tired of class right now

Yup. Semester drag out for 18 weeks and by the time you get to finals, you are already worn out. Procrastinate from study especially the last semester before you transfer since you are either excited if get accepted or sad if got denied.
