semester units worth more than quarter?

semester units * 1.5 = quarter
all my semester classes were 3 units at SJSU -> 4.5 quarter units
all my quarter classes are 4 units at De Anza (cept math/science)

i recalculated my cum gpa with this new unit thing (i originally calculated it on an even unit basis [besides math/sci]) and it went from a 3.52 to a 3.44 :|

is this right?

i believe so

yup thats how you're supposed to calculate it.

damn that sucks for me lol

Are you serious? I have been caculating my GPA using semester units...

Hrm.. i just converted my calculations to quarter units, and it came out the same... That is weird that your changes. If you think about it, it should be the same. x/y=a/b then ur answer should be the same... no?

kmizzle's units are different because some of his units are semester and some are quarter whereas your units are all semester units.

I just used Georgia State University - Enrollment Services to recalculate my gpa in quarter units and came back with a 3.52 :O
used 4.5 for semester courses(sjsu), 4 for quarter and one 5 for math(de anza)
im confused now lol

You use it to recalculate the amount of units you have, not your gpa. You gpa remains 3.52.

it'll affect your gpa because the grade points are weighted differently when comparing an A in a 3 unit semester unit class and a 3 unit quarter unit class.

It should be the same if you calculate it correctly. Remember to use different weight for quarter and semester though.
