Semester units

Does anybody know how many classes does the average person take at a semester school? What about the average amount of units? Sorry, I'm from the quarter system.

At my school, you have to take 12 to be full time, and you can't take more than 18 without special permission. The average is around 14-16, depending on your major. Some majors, all the classes have labs with them, so if you take 4 classes of 4 hours, that's 16 already. But some majors only have classes that are 3 hours, so you have to take like 5 classes (to total 15) to get a good amt of hours.

At my school 12-16 is full-time, anything above 16 is a lot more expensive. Some classes are 3 credits, but a lot of my technique classes are only 1 credit (meet twice a week, 1hr30mins each time), so next semester i'm taking 11 classes and it's only 15 credits (2 gen eds, 3 credits each, 1 dance academic- 1 credit, and 8 technique classes)

Hmm, the way both of you have describe it is the way my quarter system works. So... what's the difference in credits?

4 quarter hours usually converts to 3 semester hours.

A course that meets for 4 hours a week for the length of a quarter would only need to meet for 3 hours a week for the length of a semester.

This I believe is the generally established transfer policy.

That makes sense, thank you.
