Semester vs Quarter grades

Hi, I was wondering if schools, specifically HADES, cared more about individual quarter grades or final semester grades. If quarter one grade was 96, quarter 2 grade was 87, and final semester one grade was 92 would the 87 significantly hurt ones chances of acceptance? Would a high SSAT score counteract a B+?

  • specifically if the applicant attends a school not well known by boarding schools

I personally don’t see that as being an issue, especially if the semester/quarter included some challenging content.

Think about the all of the information that is in a file for any applicant: essays, rec letters, and transcripts with multiple years of grades. There is no way that a slight dip in a second quarter grade for one class is going to be the deciding factor.
