So i've done a bunch of reading on this and am still confused (maybe because i'm pretty sleepy).

-Let's say i transfer to berkeley in the fall crosses fingers.
-If i will need to take an additional 60 units to transfer.
-And i take the minimum of 13 units each semester.

Is it ok that i will have to take 5 semesters to graduate?

Some sources i have read seem to suggest that i get only two years, and that i have to petition for the 5th, with the possibility that the petition won't be accepted (which would be quite lame-sauce). Other places seem to suggest that all that matters is that i don't take more than 130 units total.

What’s your question? You already stated the answer in your post
At Berkeley you will need to petition for a 5th semester. Most likely is that counselors will recommend/make you to take more than 13 units each semester. Or you will need to take summer classes to graduate on time.

L&S recommends taking at least 15 units per semester. 13 is the minimum. Any less than that you have to appeal and state your reason for attending part time. 70 of my CC units transferred in so I can take it a bit easier. I’ve never had a counselor recommend or make me take more than 13-14 units.

You have to complete at least 120 units to graduate from L&S. You can take a fifth semester if you haven’t gone over 130 units. I think the deal is that if you have 129 units or less in your fourth semester, you can still sign up for as many units as allowed for the following semester. (I can’t find that number, but know I read something like it in the past.) I know transfer students who have stayed for an entire third year often to finish a minor or to take courses that would give them a leg up on their PhD applications. And I believe that it is almost a given that Engineering transfer students take 2.5-3 years to fulfill requirements even though they might take 16 units per semester.

Also, at CalSO, the Financial Aid office gave everyone a sheet of paper that said transfer students are eligible for 6 semesters of financial aid.

uhm when i was reading the UCB brochure it talked about different percentages of ppl graduating x number of years after transferring, and it seemed like most ppl took 3 years to graduate after transferring, and 5 semesters is 2.5 yrs, so i dont see what the problem would be

I am poooooooooooor. I want to graduate in two years. Screw double majoring. It is 25k a year. Though, it would be add statistics to my econ degree :)

Where does it say that you need to take at least 13 units per semester? I’ve heard many people take less than. I thought the minimum was 12 units.
