Has anyone had any experiences with freshman seminars? How are they?
I was interested in taking the EECS 24 seminar. It's a P/NP course for only 1 unit. Does it mean it'll be easy?
B/c my course load is getting pretty tough for a freshman and I just want to take a chill class where the professor lectures. I dont want homework, tests, etc....

i took this with bokor. i'd recommend it if you're interested in gadgets and technology. basically, he grades us PNP on attendance. i believe he allows you to miss 1 or 2 times unexcused, but other than that, there isn't much to it. there is no homework, no tests, etc, as it is just a seminar.
every week he has some sort of piece of technology that you work in groups of 4-5 people to take apart - literally. the items range from old projectors, laptops, cameras, vhs players, radios, etc. he applies the hands-on part of taking things apart and expands on what each component does, how it serves its purpose to the object and its function, and you have fun destroying pieces of technology. i liked it.
also, there is a short powerpoint presentation required for a topic of your choice (he assigns this the second week of class) - so that in the beginning of class each week, a student presents a powerpoint on how that week's item functions before everyone gets to take it apart. highly recommended!
