Senate Page Program 2013

So I've been researching the senate page program, and fell in love with everything I've read. I applied a month ago to my senator, Carl Levin, but he wont know if he can sponsor a page until August (I'm looking at the spring 2013 semester). I'm pretty sure I've now read every one of these threads, but I wanted to know if there's any way I can learn the classes offered by the page school? Or any ways to contact the page school? I need to sign up for my junior year classes soon, and don't want to sign up for a class I'd never be able to carry on with if I get in! Any info helps! thanks!

Hi!
I’ve also applied for next year’s program, but for the fall session.

I emailed the page director, Elizabeth Roach, and she contacted me to Kathleen Martin, the secretary of the School. Her email is kathleen_martin@sec.senate.gov I was able to gather more information from her specifically about the school. She sent me the course information about the classes I’d be more interested in.

Hopefully this helped, and good luck!

thanks so much! I’ll be sure to talk with them!

Have you heard back yet for the Fall 2012? My senator’s office said to expect an answer around the 1st of July.

sdl2014, no, I haven’t… I believe that Sen. Reid just recently stopped accepting applications for his own state, and as he is the one picking the pages around the end of June/beginning of July seems like a good guess. I just balled my own Sen. office (Akaka-HI) and they said that it’s out of their hands after this point and that they would love to have a page during his last session, it’s really selective and only 30 spots are available. HOWEVER, I will not loose hope haha.

But yes, end of June/beginning of July Sen. Reid’s office should be contacting us, hopefully.

liug808, I have also applied for the fall of 2012 session. My senator’s office told me that the Majority/Minority leaders assign senators to sponsor pages and from that point the Senator’s selected can choose an applicant.

Good luck, and hopefully we will be contacted soon.

Ohh ok that would make sense, also. Which Senator are you applying through?

I contacted Sen. Reid’s office and they said page selections would be made in the next two weeks. Good luck to you, too.

Hopefully we will hear soon! I applied through the office of Senator Menendez (NJ) and for his office applications are due until July 2nd (Very Late, I am not sure why). So I think every Senator has a different application process. The Senate leadership assigns Pages to individual Senators based on Seniority. Have you tried Inouye (HI)? He is the President Pro tempore of the Senate and most senior member, and would most likely be able to sponsor a Page. I have been researching the Program for 3 years so I know way toooooo much hahahaha.

Good Luck again though! I hope we are both sponsored!!!

Huh interesting.

In the beginning I was planning on applying to Inouye figuring he would obviously get a page. I emailed and called and eventually got a letter that no, he would not be hosting a page for the upcoming fall or spring sessions. Thankfully I also come into contact with Sen. Akaka. He was willing to nominate a page as it is going to be his last chance since he isn’t running again this up coming election.

I’m still waiting. I know one page from last fall didn’t hear a reply until August. I don’t know what caused the such late reply, but hopefully we’ll know by the end of the week.

Oh, by the way, are you a boy or girl? Just wondering since they only take 15 boys and girls each, though you probably already know this haha.

Have you also talked to your school? I’ve been talking with my vice-principal and they’re trying to figure out how I would convert the classes taken there into my trimester school system. I, we, just need to get picked first. Haha!

Wow that is surprising Inouye usually always sponsors a page. August is very late but still he/she was very lucky to be sponsored. I am a boy and also when the Senators are selected to nominate a page, they are told if they can nominate a male or female. To get nominated takes a vast amount of luck. Are you a boy or girl?
My neighbor was a house page and she told me if we are selected, the Page School Principal will work with our home high school to find a solution to any problem. She also had many conflicts with classes. I have not talked to my school however, my High School is very similar to the page school. We are also on a two semester class schedule. So I hope the credits will transfer. Do you know if the page school has biology as a class option? That would be my only conflict if they did not.
Do many students from Hawaii typically apply to be a page? I think many students from New Jersey apply because we are so close to D.C.

Good luck! Feel free to private message me if you have any specific questions.

Does anyone know if they will be going to D.C. this fall? I am excited to meet all of the other pages!

I will! I received my packet yesterday in the mail :D

Get ready for a very interesting experience guys. I was a page this past spring.

This has probably been discussed before, but I am on a time crunch and can’t read all of the other posts.

I am a junior in HS in NJ. I want to apply for the summer program. What are my chances? In terms of my senators (S. Bob Menendez and S. Frank Lautenberg) actually receiving a page for the summer. Should I apply out of state?

P.S. I meet all the requirements.
