Senate Page Program Resume Help?

Hi, I’m applying fir the 2018 Summer session fir the Senate Page. Can any of you help me with my resume? Thanks in advance

I may be a little late, but for you or anyone else, try to demonstrate your sincere passion for politics and knowledge of the senator. I’ll explain what I did, but remember, each senator may be different.

I was accepted into the summer session by Johnny Isaakson’s page program in GA, and that application was very short. I assume more weight was placed on the interview and connections. My application talked about my plans to learn about the relations between businesses and government as I wanted to go into business and then politics. I also scrounged for any connections I could find with Johnny Isaakson and managed to find a few (if you’ve ever heard of “six-degrees of separation,” that was my approach to finding connections, finding anyone I could who could know him or know someone who knows him). I got called for an interview after submitting my application. In my interview, I apparently gave a few answers that the interviewer had never heard before. I’m unsure if we are allowed to say what specific questions we got, but just remember to know A LOT about your senator (their positions on issues, what committees they are on, their history, etc.), and develop some unique knowledge and opinions about history and politics. Maybe you’ve heard the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”. Try not to regurgitate any facts or opinions you’ve heard before, and try to develop your own which the interviewer may not have heard before. This will help you stand out. Make sure you sound confident and avoid verbal stutters (“um”, “like”, etc.).

Remember, this program is extremely selective. A lot of people only get in because of connections, especially in the summer, and there are many who get rejected who are beyond qualified.

Best of luck to anyone applying!
