Senate Page Program

Hello all! I was Recently told that I will have an interview for the United States Senate page program. I was preparing by reading common interview questions for jobs, but does anyone know the type of questions that will be asked? Also, I would appreciate any tips and hints that you would be willing to give me.

There is a thread on this at the Summer Programs forum.

However, I do recommend that:

You know all the senators, by face, name and party [recommended by a House Page]

You are prepared to work 12+ hours a day. [Remember, you are being paid a real salary, around 25k per annum, but less as you’ll be there for only 1 month in the summer session and 4 months in the school year]

Don’t do stupid, illegal things [nearly all the pages get in trouble for dumb things]

Good luck, I also want to do it!

Did you apply for Fall 2013? Did the Senator you applied through contact you or the majority leader’s office? Thanks!

I applied for the 2013 fall session. I had an interview with Senator Warner’s office at the end of June (which is the office in my state). They said I would find out at the beginning of August.

This program looks so interesting did any of you guys do it? I would love to talk to a former page about how I can get in and about the program.

Hi! I’m a current sophomore from Utah. I am interested in applying for the spring 2015 session or summer 2015. I’ve already contacted my senator (Hatch) and he will be sponsoring a page. But I’m worried that I don’t have enough extra-curriculars (most of mine are from previous years and I haven’t done anything to display my interest in government because I didn’t hear about this program until recently).
I have straight A’s (4.0 GPA) and I’m in Pre Calculus, honors US history and honors English. What are my chances? And would another senator accept me if I applied to a different state?
Also for any previous pages. What is the residence hall like? Like what’s the atmosphere and what do you do in free time and on weekends. And what is the school like?
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know if you can bring electronics as a page? I know phones are allowed but I was wondering if laptops or iPods are ok. Thanks!
