Senate Page Summer 2018

I was just accepted to be a Senate Page this summer, first term! Anyone else doing this program? How much, if at all, will this help my college application? Also, if anyone has any advice/things to expect, that would be much appreciated!

Congrats! I applied as well, but I’m still waiting to hear back from McConnell. What senator did you apply under? And how did you receive your notification?

I live in GA, so I applied through Johnny Isakson. I got a phone call from a woman who works for him, the same person who called me after I submitted my application, and called me telling me about the interview. Best of luck with McConnell!

Nice job! I also applied and this week got accepted for 2nd summer session. The aide who I spoke with said that the Page School would be following up with me, do any of you know is we are taking classes over the summer?

No classes for the summer session. They probably just meant that the Page Program would be following up in general.

Fantastic, this sounds much more fun and manageable now!

What states are you guys from? I’m also waiting on my senator

Did anyone else get accepted for the first term in the summer?

I think it really helps build a profile for colleges to see. It’s pursuing a passion and succeeding, and admissions officers lap that stuff up.

@CameronGPotter I did! Although the only information I have so far is what I’ve gotten in the mail and what I’ve discovered through very thorough internet research…

Congratulations! Same for me with the information. What senator did you apply through?

Anyone get into second summer session?

Congrats! I was a Summer Senate Page last year (second session as well) and it is the best experience I have ever had. I believe that being a Senate Page is the best experience I have ever been given. I don’t know about how it helped me getting into college, but it looks amazing on resumes and that you have experience if you want to continue a career in politics

Before you go I would recommend to start learning the Senator’s names and faces since you will be tested on it during your first week. Start with the party you will be working for first, before moving to the other party. You don’t have to have everything fully memorized, but I would suggest starting to learn. You will be given flashcards of all 100 senators on your first day.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions! I am very happy to answer them

Hi, I applied for the summer session 2019 and I am still waiting to hear back. Does anyone know when they will inform me of their decision? Will they send a rejection letter? I don’t know if I can wait much longer because I am starting to obsess over it!

Each state is different, but for me, it was a while before they called me for an interview, then after the interview they said it would take 2 weeks for a decision but they said I was accepted in 5 days.

I’m applying through Schumer. I think since he is the minority leader, he is the one who awards pages to senators. Do you know if this will make it easier for me? I had an interview early March and they said they would give me an answer early April. Do you know what date you were accepted?

Also, how was the program?

I have a family friend who was a page summer 2017. He was one of five New Yorkers. I think this is because all Democratic senators have to go through Schumer to be awarded a page. Do you know anything about this?

@leo03031 - I can’t wait any longer either, I was told decisions would be made in late March. I also applied to Cardin in Maryland and I have not heard back yet.

I was told by Portman (Ohio) my decision would come via email in early April. So naturally I’ve been checking my email nonstop recently

@rachel89012 @arcanine384 I was just called this morning and told that I was accepted to the program for session II! Good luck!
