<p>How does an internship with the senator look? I got it, but I honestly have no idea if it's even competitive or how it looks on resumes. I'm an undergraduate student, btw. Just looking for some info or if anyone has ever done this type of internship. Thanks.</p>
<p>I think it depends on if it is a state Senator or a US Senator and then also what kind of power that Senator holds. All in all, its probably a good experience but if you are a Democrat, a position with Senator Harry Reid would look better than a new guy. But really it all depends on what you get out of it. It should be a good experience, either way.</p>

<p>Most internships with US Senators and Congressmen are only for a month…that’s the only downside. Not much time to really make a mark on the office and not enough time to really gain their trust enough for them to give you big stuff to deal with.</p>
<p>That said, you’re going to have an awesome experience! You’ll get the DC summer experience with other young people, you’ll make some great connections, you’ll get to witness history while you’re there because it is literally made around you in DC, and you’ll get to work on your office skills. And probably your patience for people, too, if you get constituent services as your task.</p>
<p>Hill internships in DC are a “check the box” experience for thousands of college kids in DC. They don’t stand out, but you can make good connections and get some good experience. And obviously they look a lot better than nothing. It shows you are involved in the DC “scene”… and DC is a very big “who you know” place in certain circles (like the Hill).</p>
