Hello Everyone, I received my ACT score and got a 34 (English: 30, Writing: 36, Math: 35, Science: 34) and I’m not sure if I should send either just that or also my SAT 1/SAT 2 scores. I have a 1450 superscore (Math: 780, English: 670). For the subject test scores, I got a 760 in Math Level 2 and an 800 in Chemistry. I know the 34 on the ACT is better than the 1450 on the SAT 1, but I did well on the SAT 2s so I don’t know if it’s worth (financially) to send the subject test scores along with the ACT score. My family isn’t the best off so I don’t want to spend the extra money in sending scores that won’t end up mattering much. Would the subject test scores help me out substantially or no? Thanks for reading.
@lomna17 if the college requires SAT 2 scores, then send it. If not, send just the ACT
@lomna17 What schools are you applying to? In my opinion, when schools say they Reccomend subj tests it really means they want them. Can you talk to your guidance counselor and ask for a fee waiver to send scores from the college board? Good luck!
Most schools allow you to send in subject tests without sending SAT scores.
All your scores are fine to send, including because if you send both SAT and ACT, the college will use the one it believes is better for you to determine admission, but your problem sounds more like a finanical issue in the cost of sending both ACT and SAT. Majority of colleges do not use subject tests to determine admission. Go here to see a list of colleges that require, recommend or consider subject tests http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/subject-test-requirements-and-recommendations/
If a college to which you are applying is one of those listed, then better to send both ACT and SATs including subject tests; if not, you can choose to send just ACT.
I’m applying to schools like Northeastern, Boston University, and Tufts University. Thanks @drusba for the link. It seems that a decent amount of my colleges recommend sending subject tests so any chance to boost my chances would be helpful. Thanks everyone for responding.
