Send ACT, SAT, or both?

I am just beginning to apply to colleges. I have taken both the ACT and the SAT once.

Do colleges want both scores?

Is it to my advantage to send both scores?

Do I even have the option of sending just one of the two?

Will a college know if I don't send one?

My scores: ACT 33, SAT 2260

Send both.

Not necessarily

Yes

Yes

No

Bumpty dumpty.

Your own scores are very much in line with one another. ACT/College Board’s own research on score concordance would roughly equate a 33 ACT to an SAT around ~2200. Sending both essentially says “I can consistently perform at this level.” No harm in that.

Viphan is spot on with the answers to your questions 1-4.

Bumpelstiltskin.

Stop bumping - if you don’t trust people’s responses I guess that is why you keep bumping. But the fact is that you can do the research yourself - your SAT and ACT scores are similar. If you want to spend the money to send BOTH to every school, go for it. But there is no reason too. Which one to pick? Again, you will need to do the research. Some schools require the ACT + writing OR the SAT plus two subject tests. If you haven’t done exceptionally well on the subject tests (to be in line with your test scores) then send your ACT scores. There is no one easy answer.

Instead of bumping, engage.

If you have reasons for mistrusting the answers given, discuss them.

It’s both more respectful to those who have already answered and more likely to lead you directly to feeling confident you have found the answers you seek.
