Send EC update now, 2nd week March: Good Idea or Bad Idea?

We've been having this debate: Should S send a SINGLE page listing 3 non-academic kudos that occurred since app was sent? A list, not a paragraph.

If a good idea, which is better, fax or email or overnight mail? Overnight mail seems excessive to me and email could be lost. I vote for fax.

My opinion is that it can't hurt--but will it just annoy and thus be a negative?--and there's an eensie weensie beensie chance it could help. Son is not so sure. If it were an academic update, he'd send it in a second.

I'd like to know that too. I'd just want to update two things. They're small but I feel they're important.

Can't hurt, but I would be surprised if it helped. I bet most decisions are made by now. I would vote for fax or email, if you have a specific person's email address, not just to the adcom in general.

Was just discussing this exact issue over the past few days. DS sent an email update a month or so ago with 2 kudos that occurred since his apps were sent. Now he has received a third. Seems like overkill to me, so he hasn't sent another email (again, worried that "annoying" will exceed "helpful" and suspect decisions are already made). Will the fact that a non-monetary award was received from a national organization really make an iota of difference at this point? My guess was probably not, so he hasn't sent it. And the longer we wait, the less important it will be. However, if someone has a compelling reason, or past experience that thisis helpful, please advise. Thanks!

Seems like it's too late, but couldn't hurt

my d sent an update about 2 weeks ago and I thought it was too late...Unfortunately, timing was such that she won a competition in the end of February and was named a state scholar as well.....She figured that if she is waitlisted, the info will already be there regardless; Can't hurt......

Had not thought of that...considering the waitlist factor. Good Idea.

D did last week after I called the colleges. Especially for LACs, it shows you are very interested in attending the colleges. It might help and not hurt. Just don't send anything to Stanford, it does not like any extra stuff.

D sent some additional info last week to 3 schools - one snail mail to a school that does nothing by e-mail, one e-mail to regional admissions rep., and one to the general admissions office. She did get a response from the general admissions office thanking her for the e-mail and saying they would update her application. I figure it couldn't hurt

Yeah, my school's performance of a musical was selected to perform at the international thespian festival and I included it in the midyear report. But make sure that the school accepts additional materials. If I remember corrrectly, Stanford and a few other schools don't want additional things. If the school does though, by all means go for it.

I recently got an A- on a math quiz that i worked very hard for. should i send this in?

Thank You,
