Grades closed at my school today marking the end of first term. The past three years, I have gotten straight A's (my school doesn't do A+'s). This term, I have gotten an A in AB Calc, an A in anatomy, a B+ in AP Chem, and a B in AP English! I'm really upset since I've been trying harder than ever. I know Dartmouth wants to see first term grades if they are available. How much will these 2 B's hurt my chances of getting in ED? I got a 34 on the ACT (never took the SAT) and the rest of my transcript/extracurriculars/receommendations are great. I have a 4.55 weighted GPA, I'm not sure what it is unweighted. But I'm worried! Thoughts??

I didn't send them.

Don't. They don't want them, if they did they would ask for them.

I asked my guidance counselor about this today and she said the school automatically sends first term grades to all early decisions schools. I'm not sure if all schools do this or just mine, but apparently I have to send them. How much will the B in AP English and B+ in AP Chem affect my chances? I have a B in English because of the way the teacher grades, but Dartmouth won't know that. I've had an A in English the past 3 years. I'm just worried because I don't think other people applying have B's. Will this be my demise? Help!

i'm in the same boat, applying to columbia ED but maybe dartmouth RD. my counselor said that while grades like that won't help, they won't hurt much either. if you've been doing well up till now and taking 4 AP's i have a feeling it won't be the deal-breaker. but i know exactly how you feel...it just adds so much more stress to this already brutal process.

Are you guys seriously worried about a few B's? Seriously? Wow. Don't sweat it...

Last year when DS applied ED he was told by his counselor that Dartmouth had already called for grades when he asked for them to be sent.
