I recently took the state ACT w/o writing and got a 35
-English 34
-Math 35
-Reading 36
-Science 36

I also have taken the ACT w/writing and got a 34

-English 36
-Math 34
-Reading 35
-Science 31

Should I send in both tests? I was already planning to retake it with writing, but now I'm considering just sending in the w/o writing score.

Send in both. Both scores reflect your strengths and most of your subscores only differ by ±1, barely a difference.

Do send both. It depends on the school that may or may not require writing, and may or may not super score. If you have the time to find out each school’s requirement, you may save some money by sending in one or the other. For instance, Stanford will look at the single sitting composite score and English with writing score, but they may come from 2 different test dates. Stanford also want all scores anyway, so you will have to send in both (or more). On the other hand, Emory wants single sitting score with writing, so just need to send the one with writing. If you do not want to take time to find out each school’s requirement, just send them both.
