Are AP scores used in making admission decisions? I haven't sent mine in yet, and am wondering if I should? I haven't been able to find any info on the admissions websites. I have three 5's, one 4 and a 1 (I wouldn't send that one). I am applying to several top 20 schools and want to give myself the best possible chance. Advice please?

They’re usually not considered in the admissions process, they care more about what you got in the actual class rather than a test grade because you can self study for them. You send them to the colleges usually for credits if the scores are high enough.

P.S. 20 colleges…a little too much, no?

LOL…“Several” top 20 schools. Not 20 schools. I’m killing myself over the 8 applications I am doing. Thanks for your response!

AP scores are self-reported on applications, an official AP score report is only sent to the school where you matriculate, for use in placement and credit.

One has to wonder why colleges ask for self-reported AP scores if they are not considered in admissions at all. IMO they are a kind of check relative to your grade in the class; for example, a high grade and low score may indicate grade inflation at your HS.
