Send in both ACT & SAT scores?

After taking both the SAT and the ACT, only my ACT score fits in the inter-quartile range at the universities I will be applying to in the winter, including: Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon and even Columbia. But, the percentage of students that send in SAT scores largely overshadows those who send in ACT scores.
My SAT scores are VERY poor: 550CR 740M 550W
ACT scores: English-29, Math-35, Reading-27, Science-28
Would it be better for me to only send in my ACT scores, or would colleges just frown upon this?

Hopkins accepts the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT II's and thus you could send ACT to that one without sending official SAT scores and the school is not going to frown upon it. The other two require SAT II's regardeless of whether you submit the SAT or ACT and since College Board always sends all your SAT and SAT II scores when you request any one score to be sent, you will not be able to avoid sending your SAT to those schools. As between the ACT and SAT, if you subnmit both, for admission they will consider the one thye believe is higher. That is also true at Hopkins, so if you have very good SAT II scores you may want to send all scores there also.

alright, thanks for your help
