<p>Berkeley does not seem to welcome new information once the application is submitted. Since then, S has been named National Merit Finalist and US Presidential Scholar Candidate. Any advice on how to add these achievements or if it would help. Smaller schools have been more welcoming in this regard.</p>

<p>The short answer is that they won’t care. UC dropped its interest in the National Merit program several years ago. (UC is gpa-focused, as opposed to test scores.)</p>
<p>Based on his psat score it appears you are OOS, which is probably a plus factor, since UC is loving full payors from OOS.</p>
<p>fwiw: in reality, NMF just means acing the psat, which your S clearly could do by acing his SAT. Ditto the Presidential candidacy – based on high test scores.)</p>
