Send SAT Subject Scores or not?

I took two SAT subject tests and got a 750 in Math II and a 650 in Literature.
My SAT stats are CR 680 - M 750 - W 730.
I'm satisfied with my Math II score but my Literature score is much lacking, especially since I have a low CR score as well.

I know that Northwestern strongly recommends sending two sat subject test scores, but should I send my literature score? I feel like it'll be a double-whammy since my CR score is also significantly lower.

Please help!

I’m not an expert, but when I visited the school and had an info session they said that they don’t “strongly recommend” them, they will just look at them if you send them the scores–its not a bad thing if you don’t have them. I would send the math and not the lit.

If you are applying RD, then take another SAT II. You still have time. If you are applying ED and have three or more good AP tests under your belt, then call NU and ask if that test satisfies the SAT II requirement. Otherwise, I would just send them in because 650 is still pretty good and won’t sink an overall excellent application. Also, you should follow the recommendations of the school even though technically NU says that NO SAT II scores are required to apply.

Lagunal, recommended simply means recommended. You don’t have to submit them, because they said you don’t have to submit them. I’m not, and I’m not guessing that it will count against me.

I took a few SAT IIs and was unsatisfied with my scores, so I did not submit them with my NU application. I was admitted RD (class of 2014). Granted, that’s only anecdotal evidence, and NU has gotten more competitive since I was admitted, but just throwing in my 2 cents – SAT IIs are not required.

My son did not send ANY Sat II scores, and got admitted ED - he’s a freshman this year -well actually an entering Soph cuz of AP scores.

He called Admissions LY - because he didn’t want to take Sat IIs, and they told them he didn’t have to. They said the SAT IIs are for those who feel the need to show a strength in an area, that perhaps didn’t show up in grades or AP scores. Since my son had a 4.0 and all 5s in APs, he said Thank You NU, and No Thank You to SAT.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I can’t wait for ED decisions to come out (Admitted, hopefully), I’m so nervous! Nugraddad, that helped confirm my decision. I’ve only had time to take 6 AP’s (explained on my Additional Information, I went to another school for 2 periods during the day, kind of like a career center, but for the arts) and so far I’ve got 5 on AP Music Theory, 5 on AP Calc AB, 4 on APUSH, and 4 on Lit and I’ve gotten all A’s (3.91 UW). I’m expecting a 5 on Calc BC, and a 4 or 5 on Comp Sci. I figure that this shows my strength in all the areas, so I don’t have to worry about not having taken SAT IIs.

thanks for you feedback!!
and @crimsonstained7 I applied ED too! Unfortunately I didn’t take any AP tests and am only sending in one SAT subject test score, but hopefully there’ll be good news!

I’m sure that won’t really hurt you as long as your grades are great (and hopefully you took the hardest schedule available) which will make up for all of that. You should come join the ED discussion. I’m the only one that’s posted so far, so it’s not much of a discussion haha
