Sending 2006 tax returns...

So I completed the CSS Profile last fall, and the FAFSA right after it was available. People have started hearing about their packages and still nothing for me. Then it came to my attention that I was/am supposed to send copies of my and my parents' 2006 tax return forms, which I have not done yet. Is this why I haven't gotten an estimate? Will they consider me to have applied in January or not until they receive the forms? Am I screwed? Why haven't they asked me for them before now?
I'm concerned... any answers are appreciated.

I didn't send my tax return either, and I haven't gotten an estimate either. I'm in the same situation as you: 2008 year appears on the site, but the link leads nowhere.

I just sent in the forms. There is no way they could have recieved it and processed it, yet I still got an estimate.

like andy_jay, i did not send in my forms either and i still got an estimate.

Great......

what the hell? I'm so confused... I just got this e-mail:

We have received your application for Fall/Winter 2007-2008 financial aid;
however, we cannot review your application and determine your financial aid
awards until you submit additional, required documents. Please note that you
will only be considered for loan programs at this point because the application
deadline has passed (students admitted Winter term have different deadline
dates; please see our website at http://www.finaid.umich.edu).

I will only be considered for loans?? I can't find anything about awards on WA... Am I seriously screwed out of financial aid because I didn't send the forms, which they didn't even ask me for until now?? Could someone please explain this?

hey annarborchick, i just got that email today too!! i'm sooo confused

Did u apply for the summer term? Just askin because that's when i'll begin if i enroll

I got that e-mail tonight also. I'm frightened completely.

If I were you, mail it in ASAP like overnight mail....

It says that the deadline has already passed. Also, I don't have copies of the tax returns, and I don't have the College Board thing filled out. My god.

I got that too. If it were too late, shouldn't we have received an initial notification? I was confused.

I'm being told that I might have to go to MSU instead as a result of this. Great.

Check your e-mail again today, guys. It appears that it was just a mistake. It's due May 31, 2007.

wow, those *******s should give us a bunch of money just for scaring us like that...

^^I completely agree

but wait... I still don't undertstand why I don't have an estimate. It seems like others have been saying that they got them despite not sending the tax forms. does anyone know?

annarborchick, I called the Financial Aid Office yesterday because my DD is in the same situation as you. Well, it turns out that the reason why we have not received an estimate is because of an error with social security numbers. DD is going to rectify this on Monday. You may want to call them to see if there is a problem - they are very helpful on the phone.

thanks for the tip, MSMDAD!
