I plan to apply to some UC schools and I took 4 AP classes junior year, and I got 3's on 3 of them, but a 2 on 1. If I were to send the grade report to get credit for the classes that I did pass, would it hurt my application if they saw the two? (in Macro-Econ) Or would it not matter since they would receive them at different times? ( the scores and my application)

any help would be greatly appreciated

nobody knows...

ps: how did you get a 2 on macro, i thought it was suppose to be one of the easiest AP exams. that just goes to show that no test is easy/hard, it only depends on how smart you are OR how good of a test taker you are. good luck with your admissions to the UC's.

I dont know!! i was so positive i got at least a 4, but whatever...
thanks

I've read some more about this and... are you just supposed to send AP scores after you get accepted to colleges?

CB is like a massive communist organization. They know and send everything about you- even your blood type. I agree with ^ in that nobody really knows whether it hurts your app. Off the top of my head, I would say that yes it does hurt. Check to see if there is some way you could have the 2 wiped off the record/not visible. And I believe colleges can and do "request" your AP scores and see them without you directly sending them. My bro didn't submit his scores but UCSD still knew them. Don't they also show up on your transcript?

Yeah I've looked at that - don't think it's possible to cancel grades since we already got the scores :(

I figured 2 things out.
1) 2 years ago they gave you 4 AP score reports for free (according to my older bro). Now they only give you 1.
2) You only send them to the colleges you get accepted to. However, some apps. might have an "AP Scores" section/make you send them score report for admissions process.

Thanks for the info. ^^

Would the Application say like send for verification or is there usually a deadline before the application of when AP scores must arrive?

If it isn't on the application requesting AP scores, then I suspect you just send them as soon as you are accepted. It appears that they don't hold your hand when it comes to AP scores.

I am curious too...lemme quick download the 2007 app for one of my colleges.....No, it doesn't mention anything about AP scores.

Thanks :)

If it is on the application, would you write your scores then and then send the scores to verify them (for UC schools, if you or your brother happen to know)

Thanks again

There is a deadline for when the UC is supposed to have your AP scores. When taking the AP exam you should have marked which colleges you want to send your scores to; if you marked your college on there then your college should get all of the AP scores from that date and earlier in time. On the UC application you should indicate which AP exams you've taken and plan to take and how well you did on the ones you already took.

I got a 2 on the European History exam, and I reported it because the application said to report ALL of your scores. I still got into EECS (one of the hardest majors to get into at Berkeley). On the myBerkeleyApplication website my "2" isn't reported on my AP score list (they say they only display 3 and above). A lot of people have said that, for UCs, AP scores can only help you and not hurt you, which leads me to believe that they generally ignore the 2 (though I think they would factor it if it was related to your major).

Just asked the bro again. He got into (and is attending) UCSD and some lower ones, but he got more info on where to send his scores once he got accepted. If the application wants a formal score report, I am sure they would ask for it. . The most you might get is an "Additional Tests" section on the app. USC doesn't ask for the scores at all on the application. Texas @ Austin sounds like you have to be on campus to do it. So I think I can conclude that you don't need to worry about your scores for a while.

To hide the 2, used Grade Withholding: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/exgrd_rep.html

This page gives a good explanation of "hiding" a low score. http://www.collegeconfidential.com/discus/messages/70/17069.html

Damn you really made me think hard esp. over summer ;)

Thanks, Azure326. I didn't have them send it to any on the answer sheet, so it looks like I'll have to pay to send them. I can't find out when the deadline is though - I assume it's after acceptance, or would I need to send them to every college I apply to?

Thanks NervesofJelly, but it says It has to be before June 15th... so close lol

Oh, you auto sent your scores?

No, I didn't choose to send them anywhere on the answer sheet

I THINK that the deadline for the official AP scores is after you accept, at least it was for UC Berkeley. I normally just sent my scores to the colleges I was considering, but I don't know what they would do with the AP scores listed on the UC application if they didn't have the official AP scores sent to them (I think they would still consider them and expect them to match what your AP report indicates when you send it to them after you accept).

If you get a 2 on an exam and want AP Scholar with Distinction, is it a good idea to cancel that 2 permanently off your record, and will colleges see that you cancelled that certain score?

wait, did you put the college's number when you took the ap exams, b/c unless you cancel those scores, they are already at the college.

Yeah, if the scores get auto-sent, you are up ***** creek without an all important paddle. I didn't bother auto-sending because I haven't applied anywhere yet, and they only give you 1 free.

I didn't auto-send them :P

I'll guess i'll just send them after I get accepted to colleges then??

thanks for all the help

A 2 is usually neutral to colleges(I'm not sure about ivy leagues). You should send your AP scores, even if it includes a 2. A 1 would hurt you.
