I think a post similar to this one has been posted before, but I can’t find the forum.
I was deferred from early action. I am getting ready to send my letter of continued interest this week. However I have a question regarding the required essays for Tulane. Am I allowed to send the admissions committee a new personal statement?
My oldest son, a Tulane 2011 grad, wrote what I thought was an OK-but-not-great admissions essay. He was admitted and received a merit scholarship, but with his high school GPA and ACT score, I thought he should have received the higher merit award. He submitted a new essay and his higher ACT score, and they did review his scholarship and awarded him a higher one, which was worth about $20,000 more over 4 years. So it may well be worth it.
If you are really sold on Tulane, tell them why. My youngest son, Tulane 2018, wrote extensively in his admissions essay about his love for New Orleans and all the positive things he learned about Tulane from his brother’s experience that made him want to go there. I think they want people who really, really want to be there and are motivated to succeed.
