sending act scores "by end of january"

i have a couple of questions regarding sending the december test:

is it true that you cant send in scores until the writing scores come out? what time do these writing scores come out?

if my colleges need the scores “by the end of january,” is it too late to wait for the entire score (composite and writing) and then send it? if it is too late, is it possible to blindly send it in now?

thanks!

Ok, Yeah it's true. Score reports don't go out until the writing section has a grade. This usually takes about 2 weeks. So if you took the Dec. test, then sometime mid-January ACT will send your scores.

I would say you have 3 options:
1. When your score comes up online, order a priority score report IMMEDIATELY. (the regular score report is called Standard). This will cost you 13 bucks. When I ordered a priority report, it took my college 10 days to get it. Standard takes forever.
2. You could print it online and bring it to the school. They may accept it as "Unofficial". They are still going to want the real thing, but this may hold them off.
3. Just hope for the best (although I seriously doubt they will get it in time).

You may want to check with the university as well. I know many universities receive all their scores electronically so basically when you request a score report, chances are that they will have it in just 24 hours (standard or priority). One university even discourages priority reports for this very reason I believe.
