I plan on taking the ACT again this fall. I have already obtained a 29, but did not have it sent to any colleges at the time. I had taken the test in my sophomore year and wasn't really planning ahead....

So, when i re-take the test this fall are both of my scores sent. I expect to improve, but I am worried about relying on improvement if my other score is not included.

It is my understanding that the ACT sends each score independently...IE) $7 X 4 colleges for old score reports :( Though, my new scores would be sent for free.

Additionally, the SAT to my understanding sends the whole package with each score report. IE) I take the SAT I this fall, they send my past SAT I's as well as my 3 SAT II's all for free (Price included in this fall's registration). Or am I wrong?

Please put me in my palce :). Im confused...

My understanding is that yes, SAT sends ALL test scores up to & including the test you're registering for to whatever schools you indicate, all for the price of registration. If you want additional scores, of course there's additional fee.

Not positive about the ACT, but the info should be on the website or ask your GC. From looking at the order form for sending scores, it sure looks like you have to specify the month & year of the single test you want sent, but you can contact ACT &/or GC to be absolutely certain. https://www.actstudent.org/scores/send/asr_current.html (My son only took the ACT once & isn't re-testing, so it's not one of our issues; it's listed on his HS transcript, as well as ALL his standardized test scores--APs, all SAT testing.)

Also, one way to save a bit is checking to see whether some of the colleges you're applying accept scores that are recorded on your official HS transcript & double-check whether your HS does record scores on your HS transcript. My kids' HS does record & several schools son is considering do accept scores recorded on the official transcript sent by the school instead of requiring them to be sent from the College Board or ACT.

I had almost forgotten that my ACT sits in the little text box my transcript. Thats not official but many colleges will take it because the school code is technically an official report and they expect truthful schools...??? Or no?

I will probably have to contact each of them to verify?

Schools that allow you to submit the scores on the official HS transcript usually say that's what they accept in their college application materials. To double-check, yes, you do contact each school.

Each HS gets a sticker with all your scores printed out each time you take the test, so they get official scores from ACT & College Board. The colleges which accept the scores do so because the scores are reported directly to the HS & the HS is accountable for the contents of official transcripts.

ACT sends only score ordered and not any others. Thus, when you retake and mark on the app colleges to which to send scores, those colleges will get only your new score. To have old one sent, you need to order and pay for it per college.
