I'm applying to Yale and i know that they don't require SAT subject tests, but I'm wondering whether or not I should send my scores because my SAT subject tests were pretty good, but my SAT scores were not that great. I am sending them my ACT score. My ACT is a 32 with 31 english, 35 math, 31 reading, 30 science, and 9 writing subscore, My SAT is a 2080 with a cr - 620, math -780, and writing 680. my subject tests are math 2 - 800, chemistry - 790. I'm just worried that they'll see my SAT score, especially my cr score and that it'll affect their decision since a 620 is not up to their standards. What do you guys think i should do?

um, your SAT score is a 2080, not a 2180. add that up again.

since your SAT is a 2080, send the ACT. i got into Yale with a 32 ACT and a 2200 SAT.

thanks rd31 anyone else?

don't send the SAT, because they will see that 620 CR score. i'm afraid that will hurt you quite a bit.

also an 800 in math II is not that strong in terms of percentile. just sending the ACT can't hurt you, but sending the SAT/SAT II certainly can.

A 620 CR score is like a stab in the eye to an admissions officer.

What do you mean that an 800 isn't that strong by percentile? How would it not be the top percentile as it is 800/800?

not for math II. it's something like 80th percentile because the curve is so high for that subject test. basically, a lot of kids score 800 on that test.

In May (I think, could have been March) and 800 on the Math II put you in the 90th percentile. Now, THAT is a standardized test that doesn't indicate anything.

what about as a transfer since they don't ask for SAT II. I am applying As a transfer next year and I want to know how to prepare because my sat r crap 1840. I need to go to Yale please help

It's silly, in my opinion, to hide the ball on the SAT II scores just to avoid sending in a College Board score report that includes SAT I scores. But besides scores, which Yale evaluates on the basis of considering your BEST scores, other factors will be considered in deciding on your admission application. Make sure those other factors are strong if test scores are iffy.

so will yale only look at my act score like they say? or will they still look at that sat I score. and token do you think i should send them my sats so they will see my sat II's

With good SAT II scores, you might as well send in the College Board score report. I believe Yale when Yale says it gives you the benefit of the best scores you have obtained.
