Is it a good idea to send information to schools that you have applied to regular decision? For example, I recently made Nationals (tournament where all 50 states are represented) for Speech and Debate Extemp, and I've also been doing a lot of other work relating to various other extracurricular activities.

I know that they don't like to get swamped by paperwork, but my Harvard interviewer suggest that I do it for Harvard. I'm just wondering if I should do it for my other schools as well. Thanks.

Curious about this too. One of my short films is screening at a small indie cinema, another one will be screening out of competition at a major international film festival, and I'm also helping to organize a fairly well-regarded film festival (as an intern - thing is, I indicated my internship on my application, but I had no idea that this would be the scope of my work!) This is stuff that would have gone on my app if it had happened earlier, but now that the app is in I have doubts that it will have that much influence over the admissions decision, so I've been in two minds about whether or not to send them this new info.

I also indicated on some of my essays that I intended to take on a fair number of volunteering commitments (I'm not currently in school) this year, and I'd like my schools to know I'm actually following through with them, not just putting them on the app and saying "this is what I INTEND to do (but I don't really think I will)", you know? I have also already sent them letters correcting a very minor mistake on my resume, so the possibility that they may get ****ed off over me sending them too much stuff is pretty real.

That you are not in school and have no one to speak to your Mid-year report, like an Guidance Counselor, I absolutely would follow up with what is on your plate. The counselors at S's school sent out survey's that the kids had to fill in so the GC made sure to include stuff -- which for example the speech award above would be a perfect example.

Send your additional information, some schools may use it, others may send you an email like my D got from a competitive u, that basically told her they would never read this email because they are swamped. I think you can be a bit squeaky, but not annoyingly so.
