Sending additional letter of rec?

I'm quite confused on this, after perusing some threads its still kinda vague...

My additional letter of rec comes from outside the country (internship), so I hand carried the physical letter home to ensure that I can send it quickly come admissions time.

Is it fine to send it via mail? I'm applying Early Decision to a private school. They allow extra letters of rec but didnt really specify how to send it. What is the normal procedure for submitting them?

Thank you and have a great day!
:)

E-mail your admissions counselor and ask.

You can always send one via mail to the applicable college’s admissions office as long as it can be matched to your application file, e.g., it is helpful to have your name and address on it particularly if your name is common enough to be shared by others. The different question is whether you should and that requires checking with each college for its rules because a number that require recommedations do not want you to send anymore than the exact number required; others do accept an additonal rec letter but check first.

Drusba is correct. The admin officer I spoke with said the same thing, but added that you should be sure that the third letter of recommendation “covers new ground” and that you put the students name and ss# number on the letter to assist the Adcomm in getting the hard copy letter into the application file. Once they get it, they will scan it in and add it to the electronic file. he emphasized that they dont simply want more material to read, but that if it adds something new and it helps them learn who you are, you should send it.
