A lot of the schools that I am interested in applying to say that they require all ACT/SAT scores to be sent. I did not know that a lot of schools would require this. My best ACT was a 33, which I am happy with, but I also had some not so good scores too, and I am worried that those will hurt my admission chances by sending those. What do you guys think? Will sending worse scores hurt my chances at getting in places?
bump
For schools that require you to send all scores (e.g. Stanford requires all SAT’s and ACT’s taken, Yale all of the one you choose to send) you have no choice. Unless you have taken an excessive amount of tests 4 or maybe 5+, I doubt it will hurt you. Obviously for schools that don’t require all tests to be sent, pick the strongest.
@BKSquared unfortunately I have taken it four times. I went 26, 28,29,33. How much will this hurt? I am not planning on applying to any Ivy league schools, but I am planning on applying to some places that require all scores (University of South Carolina) and other places like University of Michigan (not sure if they require all). So you think it will hurt me?
You’ve shown improved scores so that helps. A 33 is a great score, I wouldn’t worry. You’ll want to confirm directly with the schools on whether all scores are required.
I don’t think those scores will hurt you at all and for University of South Carolina I am pretty sure merit awards are automatic based on your single best composite score (ACT). My D18 just applied and the app asked for the single best score - we just sent in all 5 of her scores - also progressively better and fine.
BTW - nice jump to the 33.
@my2caligirls so you sent in all 5 scores? She applied for next year?
and thank you!
Yes - all five sent as requested. Plan was to delete a score or two but really not concerned given the schools on our list. They showed progression and will garner some merit $ where D18 is applying. Good luck.
