Sending an ACT score with a low outlier?

DD’s superscore over 3 ACT sittings is a 32. But the third time she took it - when she upped her Science to 29 creating the 32 - her Reading score was bizarrely low: a 22 (she scored 30 and 31 on the other two). She doesn’t know what happened. Maybe she misbubbled?

I called Tufts and their superscores are computer-generated, so the admissions officers won’t see that low score. But for Vassar, whose range is 31-34, they would see all the numbers.

Would you send the composite that ups her superscore to 32 to Vassar, even though it has that weird low Reading score or just stick with her other two, both 31 composite?

Yes. If a college says they superscore, or only consider the highest section scores, believe them. In the 10 minutes or so that they spend on an application, no AO is going to waste time wondering “Gee, I wonder what happened with that 22?”

Thanks. I think you’re right and that makes sense. Is it worth sending all three so they see the highest in each subsection? I actually could just send 2 test to get to 32, but then it’s not the highest in each section. Are they looking at section scores or composite only?

Depends on the college.

If it’s not a financial burden, I’d send all 3.
