Sending an update letter to Harvard???

Soo I sent Harvard an update letter through the online document upload portal. It was just a numbered list on a Word document of 14 accomplishments since applying, not actual documentation like a newspaper article or website link. Should I have uploaded through there, or should I email admissions? Or the person who interviewed me?? And is it too late at this point to even matter anyway? :((

Hey! I’m in the same boat as you. Have you heard anything back from Harvard yet?
I highly suggest you calling the admissions office and ask them if you haven’t.
I called them last monday to ask if additional rec/updates can matter at this point and the guy sounded like there was still some time, I’m not sure about now though.

14 accomplishments since applying??? I can’t imagine in the span of a few weeks/months you actually accomplished 14 meaningful things. I think this would hurt rather than help you.

I don’t think it will hurt you and if the accomplishments are truly amazing it might help you. Uploading on the portal seems to be the place they want you to submit it. That way no one has to match an email to your application.

14 accomplishments of what? If it’s in the newspaper maybe it might move the needle.

It better be good and not embellishing. I think some people overestimate ECs.

@EYeager I agree. Harvard even asks that you only submit if you have unusual talents.

From Harvard’s status portal:

Supplementary materials are entirely optional; please only submit them if you have unusual talents. These materials may be evaluated by faculty at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.

Scholarly articles, research, creative writing, or other documents should be submitted in the Materials Uploader below.

@EYeager @rebeccar I mean they’re not huge but I don’t think they’re insignificant enough to be annoying. I did put smaller things on there like National Merit Finalist and track captain, but there are some larger awards I thought were worth sending in. I do a lot of writing so it was mostly writing awards. Do you think that will just bother them?? :frowning: I didn’t consider that…let me know what you think!

@Wendelstein I haven’t heard anything back but I think that’s fine! Did you send them a letter through the portal too? Let me know
