Sending AP scores to colleges?

I took 2 AP exams. I put in my score in my commonapp application; but is it absolutely manditory that I have to send it through collegeboard? Its pretty expensive, and I applied to 11 colleges. What happens if i don't send my AP scores through collegeboard

AP scores are not typically used on college admissions. In July, after you graduate and after you have the scores from any AP exams you take this May, you call College Board and tell them the college you will be attending. They will then send the score report to that college, generally to the academic dean, so that those results can be used to see what courses you may get AP credit for in college.

Unlike sending SAT scores, you can’t do this from the college board website - it is done by phone. When you take AP exams this May - save the small booklet you get - it has the phone number and instructions for ordering the AP score report be sent out.

There are a couple of things here.

It is not mandatory, but they won’t necessarily consider the AP scores on your CommonApp because you could have lied. Or you could have left out certain scores you did not wish to put.

It depends on the school and you should contact them. I applied ED to Brandeis, and I put my AP scores on the CommonApp, but I didn’t know if they would recognize this so I e-mailed the school and I was told AP scores ARE considered if I send them, they can only help, so I sent them. I believe they did help me get in.

Some schools may not consider them, so find out.

However, it does take a bit of time to do it over the phone. And since Regular Decision deadlines have pretty much passed I don’t think they’ll accept them anymore.
