Sending AP Scores?

I'm aware of the fact that Harvey Mudd doesn't give credit for AP tests... So do we still send in official reports from Collegeboard? And if we have to send the scores, when would be the approximate deadline?

Thanks in advance.

Are you applying or have you been admitted? I don’t recall my son ever sending the scores that he received senior year of HS. I don’t think he saw any point. Mudd gives placement tests to place out of classes (but doesn’t give credit for the classes placed out of), so I am not sure what relevance the scores would have after admission.

I’d ask someone at HMC proper. I know my daughter was able to move up a placement in CS her first semester because of her 5 on the AP. I’m fairly sure we sent the scores in, because, why not? I don’t know if there are other times they have use.

Maybe for classes at one of the other 5 C’s?

My daughter is taking 5 AP classes at senior year. She will attend Mudd in Fall 2015. We understand HM will not give any AP credit except Biology with score 5 above website. According to Harvey Mudd school website if you get Biology AP test score 5 you can take placement exam but they didn’t say anything to give you credit. My daughter’s school teachers don’t push students to take AP exam since very expensive. Do you know what is Mudd school think?

Students take placement exams in most of the core subjects at Mudd, but I don’t remember my kid taking the bio one. As you said, maybe they allow the placement exam if the student has a 5 on AP Bio (my kid’s school didn’t even offer AP Bio). I don’t know how hard the placement exam is. Even if she places out of the required core Bio class, it sounds like she wouldn’t get the AP credit. That would be consistent with how Mudd treats all other APs (no credit). So she would take some other class to substitute for it.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I really appreciate it. She is super exciting to attend Mudd in Fall.
