Sending Common App and Supps

I'm applying to about six or eight schools, and all require the common app plus a school supplement. Do I have to send the common app and the supplements at about the same time?

Or, can I send the common app now to all my colleges, and later send the supplements as I get the essays done? (This may take several weeks).

thanks.

I would send them at approximately the same time. There is no reason to send them all now, it isn’t more convenient.

I have been just sending payment, commonapp, and supplements all at the same time.

However, I sent ALL of my SAT scores and stuff ahead of time, about a month ago.

Still kinda wondering about this. I won’t have time to write most of my supp essays till holiday break. But if I send the common app now to all schools (without the supps), won’t they at least be able to open a file so I can check my app status online for other items (recs, transcripts, SATs, etc.)?

If your Common App Online is ready to go, I would submit it. That way those colleges know you are an applicant and will open your file and so forth. No particular reason to wait. Once you submit your application, those colleges will see you not as a prospect but as an applicant, and you’ll get different communications from them. Doesn’t hurt to get that started earlier, IMHO.

You dont have to send it at the same time. Yes send SOMETHING as early as possible so they can open a file for you.

I have submitted all my apps but i got 4 supplements left.

I would send the application first and then send the supplements. It’s quite pointless to wait until you finish to send them all in. They don’t want a flood of applications postmarked January 1st.
