Do I have to send the Common App to all of the schools on my list at the same time? Or can I send it each school's application individually?

I put schools on my list and sent in their supplements (so I cannot remove them from my list) but alter decided I didn't want to apply there. So, basically I have these random schools under "My Colleges" that I really don't want to apply to.

My first choice college requires me to list all other schools I am applying to as part of their supplement, which I have not sent in yet. I only have listed the other two I do intend on applying to, and not the others.

Basically, I want to send the app into only three out of the seven schools on my list. Is this possible?

You can remove schools from your list (under “My Colleges”, click the school’s name and in the box below it will say “Remove this College”) after you’ve started or submitted their supplement. If you choose to add them back on, all of your supplemental data will be saved.

Sending in the applications requires paying the application fee. It doesn’t matter if you send the applications at different times.

^ I can’t remove the colleges AFTER I have sent in their supplements, this is under the FAQ help section on the Common App itself. I was able to remove some of the ones whose supplements I had not sent in, but not the ones whose supps I had already sent in. These schools also don’t have application fees, so it says “completed” under that section. So I’m freaked out that it will automatically send in the app to THOSE schools because I don’t need to pay.

So, how would I send in the CA to each individual college, and not to all of them all at once?

You and I are in the same boat, heh.
Since you’ve already submitted some of the supplements, you can’t remove the schools (trust me, I have tried).

Yes. You’re submitting to each school individually. Not all at once.

The only way is to start a new account. It says it on the website I think.

there’s no reason to start a new account.

you know which schools you will apply to and which you won’t. trying to clear the other schools out is just for convenience. it will be looked down upon and harder to put your application together (on the college’s end). if you have two separate accounts.

also, my apologies. you are correct in that you cannot remove schools after you submitted their supplement. this also happened to me, but now I am applying to that school, so I forgot.

If you really want to make sure you are not going to be applying to these schools, send the schools a letter (or email) withdrawing your application.

You can send the Common App individually to each college and only to the colleges you want to. In the signature section, only check off the colleges you want to send the Common App to.
