Sending Documents

I just have a couple questions about submitting documents.

Let me preface this by stating that I applied through the QuestBridge National College Match in the late fall, so my non-custodial parent has already submitted the Non-Custodial Profile. However, he must update it for my schools for the RD round. Thus, he is updating it on paper for each school and sending it to them individually (as the website says).

For institutions that don't use IDOC:

1) Are my non-custodial parent and his wife allowed to fax the Non-Custodial Profile and the Business/Farm Supplement to the schools that require them? I ask this because a lot of schools say "mail," but for them, faxing would be a lot easier.

2) If they can fax the forms, do they need any kind of cover sheet? If so what should they put on it (name, etc)?

For institutions using IDOC:

My non-custodial parent is leaving town next week and will be gone until the middle of February, so we are trying to get his Non-Custodial Profile and Business/Farm Supplement out of the way before he leaves (that way he will just have tax returns to do when he gets back). A lot of my schools use IDOC, so we should submit those forms through there. However, my mother can't complete the CSS Profile yet because she is still waiting on some forms for the 2010 year; therefore, we cannot get IDOC yet so he can't submit the forms. Is it okay to just submit these forms directly to the school? I have sent the schools emails, but I don't know if I'll have a response by the time he leaves.

If we can submit the forms to the schools, then my questions for institutions not using IDOC still apply.

Any and all help is much appreciated.
