I was just wondering, when sending DVDs to schools, what is an appropriate length for the DVD? 3 minutes? 5 minutes? 10 minutes?

Thanks in advance for answering.

It varies by school.

It does indeed vary by school, but I’d go for 3-5 minutes. You want to get your idea across quickly without dragging it out and boring those watching. I’d check with the school though on an exact time range.

@Both of you :), thanks very much for replying.

What do applicants send dvds for? Is it to highlight ability in music or sports?

I would be sending mine in for music.

There are no guidelines on length. If your playing Tchaikovsky’s piano conerto 1 at the Lincoln Center, include the whole thing. Record in hidef with good sound conditions.

Short and sweet! If you can showcase your best in 2 minutes, do it.

What school are you sending them to?
Do you suggest that everyone make one?

I’m sending it to Andover, Exeter, Lawrencville, SPS, WRA, Groton, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, and some others too that I can’t remember.

I’d suggest making a DVD if whatever you’re showcasing is one of your main strengths. Otherwise, it’s not worth it.

What if i was into Sony Vegas, and i create a short anime trailer, would they accept it?

Ummmm, I’m not an admission officer, just an 8th grader, but i think if you have a passion for anime related stuff then sure why not?
