Sending Emails to admissions?

My mom told me to send emails to various admission offices just to tell them I'm interested. Is it necessary? I mean I already demonstrated interest by requesting materials, adding myself to the mailing list, and campus visits. Wouldn't they think I'm obnoxious or something? Are they even going to reply me? Or should I email them with specific questions?
Thanks :)

If I was an admissions officer, and you sent me an email to say you were interested, I would probably send back an email that says “Thank you for your interest. We look forward to receiving your application.” After that, I would never give your email a second thought.

However, if you do have specific questions, it is certainly acceptable to email them.

I think they would respond, but with generic email messages. Most likely, your message would go to a secretary and wouldn’t even make it to the desk of your admissions officer. I mean, if you’re really interested and ready to commit to one, I guess you could tell them that you specifically would go to their college if admitted. It’s always better to talk to your admissions officer though.

There is no point at all in sending such an email. That is just as bad as junk mail to them. Just think of the massive inbox, and they have actual legitimate questions that people are asking and your mom just wants you to send filler? They would just add you to the mailing list, but you are already on it.

Thanks guys! :)
