Sending EVERY act score really neccessary!?

Im looking to apply to univ of south Carolina, and online it says that they require applicants to send every test score they attempted snd that if all scored arnt sent, the application wont be processed. I did poorly on my first test so I was wondering is there any way thar the college can check and see every test date that you tested on? It requires you to self report the dates you took the ACT so could I just report the other two test dated and send those scores and not my first, or will the university find out!? Sorry that was long, im just freaking out!!!

Oh also does anyone know approximatley how long our personal statement answer should be? Thanks so much in advance!

USC gets tons of applications. Ask an admissions counselor about how they handle scores, but what we were told is that sending all your scores is for your benefit. They are wary that some kids won’t understand how they use them and might not actually send best - for instance, not realizing how superscoring works. Frankly, the computer takes what you sends and spits out best scores…and that’s what they see.

I did really poorly on my ACT’s. I was told in the Science section that I wasn’t “ready” for college-level science. I never retook them because my SAT scores were better.

Even so, I still sent my ACT scores into USC. You have to sign a section of the application that you sent in all test scores and if they find out you didn’t, there could possibly be major consequences.

It didn’t hurt me, because my SAT scores were much better and USC Admissions only uses your best scores. They still offered me admission and a university scholarship.

Imo, it seems like a risk not to send the scores in when USC already has said they super-score and only use the best scores.

Ok thanks for the info! Ill talk to an admissions person and ask for some more information, thanks:)

I don’t know about ACTs but heard that you can pay collegeboard to remove SATs from the database so they are hidden. Maybe ACT offers the same thing. You would not be the first to want a bad set of scores to be removed.

Nikkkkki,

I called admissions and they were quite clear that all scores must be posted. I was a bit concerned because my DS only scored an 1840 on the SAT. I thought it would hurt his ACT (comp 30) posting which he did great on but they assured me that it would help in some respect because of the way they do things.

Good luck!!

Ok thanks so much!
